Brass or copper? How to choose your finish (and why samples matter)

Every Metal Clad finish is patinated by hand, so no two panels are ever quite the same. That's the joy of them, and also why we always recommend seeing a sample before you order.

Our brass finishes

Brass gives warm, golden tones, from the soft overall patina of Cloudy Antiqued Brass to the dramatic figuring of Fossil Antiqued Brass and the rose and bronze marbling of Rose Marbled Antiqued Brass. Inky Brass with Blue Bloom and Blue Veil Brass bring cooler, moodier colour. Our Dark Mottled 'Copper' is actually brass, distressed to a deep black-brown that looks just like copper.

Our copper finishes

Copper is where the greens and blues live. Light Verdigris Copper is soft and subtle, Heavy and Amazon Verdigris Copper are bold and dramatic, and Moss Antiqued Copper mixes moss green with blue. Light Verdigris 'Polished' Copper adds a satin sheen.

Why order samples?

• Light changes everything. A patina looks different at a north-facing window than under spotlights at night.
• Every panel is unique. A sample shows you the character of a finish, not a photograph of someone else's panel.
